I’m thinking of plasti dipping my wheels. Here is a new, probably Pursuit/police spec, Charger.
It was sitting it the dealer lot when I got my oil changed. A white one version of this drove in when I was leaving. Yes please, especially with those steelies. The new Charger looks so good with the refresh, not too many creases, and very menacing in person. 11/10 would DD.
Anyways onto the topic of this post. My Dart had one owner before myself, I don’t know where it was taken for tires or driven but the edges of the wheels are in rough(cosmetic only) shape. I’ve been bouncing around the idea of dipping them since I like the OEM ones. I’ve done it before and am no stranger to prepping and painting/dipping them. If I do dip them I’m thinking silver/Aluminum metallic to keep it similar to what color the wheels already are. I have played around with some cans of plastidip I already have to see different combos.
Above is a base of matte gray. Left side is two coats of glossifier, right side is purple flake metalizer and one coat of glossifier. I was too heavy than what I meant to do with the purple flake, so think about half that. I’ve thrown around the idea of just dipping them purple, but feel it would be too riced looking. This is mainly for protecting the wheels from more damage and the elements. Please give me your opinions, below is my car for reference(it is dirty, ignore that).
Behind it is step dad’s Suzuki Forenza wagon. Looks neat but is a miserable little machine.
P.S. For any other new Dart owners who need front plate mounts(curse you Ohio), check out the Deyeme Racing milled aluminum no drill mount on Ebay. It is excellent.

Red. You know it is the right thing to do.

I knowwwww... But I just see so much red on the Civics and Foci around here. I feel like purple would be nice looking with the black and silver or the purple flake on silver. Not too ricey and still enough to pop.

Do it man, I like the matte silver but with Plastidip you can really make some neat color combos, I think those wheels would look great in a dark bronze color (if you were going color) but matte silver would be my preference over the purple flake. It depends though, if it’s super subtle and can be seen only at certain angles the purple might look pretty cool. Just get the plasti dip can gun sprayer so that the coats are super even.

If you do purple, you have to dip something else on the car purple to match. May I suggest the mirror caps?

SOOO GOOD
That’s on a charger.

I do love those wheels. Definitely optioned on a Charger Hellcat if I bought one in the future.

That was my thought as well which is why I'm hesitant to go full purple wheels. I would probably do all the silver parts/badges to match if I did.

I’m ok with that purple.

I do so love Plastidip and the options it gives a person without being permanent. Like I said, I went way to heavy with the purple flake. If I used it, it would be only enough to glint in the light/at the right angles. Make a person do a double take to see if it actually has that purple sparkle. I do need that sprayer, my hand gets so cramped when I try to spray without a gun and stay even.

But the color would work with your style of wheel I think. But not that flashy vintage gold plastidip that looks piss color.

you already have the silver-ish color. go different and if you dont like it just peal it off. I’d say not purple just becuase I wouldn;t want something that loud (thats just my opinion) White would look good, bronze too.

I’d do that flake much lighter over grey or silver so it isn’t as noticeable.

Purple would be loud but looks good on black. I’m not sure how I feel about bronze on black unless it looks truly metallic or similar to the Charger Hellcat wheels but a lighter shade. I like white but feel like it would show dirt terribly.

I don’t think that particular shade(charger) would look great with black, maybe lighter but retaining a bronze/burnt caramel look. Definitely not gold haha. I'm not a fan after seeing gold Daytons everywhere, they're pretty popular in Dayton, Ohio.

These wheels ruin it.

Lies. I like the steelies, they're functional not showing off and still look good. The Hellcat wheels are nicer to look at though.

But the older style five spoke steelies looked so much better!

i don;t like any bright colors but thats just my personal taste. I guess I wouldn;t want it for my car, i’t will probably look fine. I think the bronze is more of a classic look. definitely metallic.

I totally understand, to each their own. I might try out a can of bronze.

The cops I’m talking to are telling me that the Chargers are not holding up in police service.

The new ones are so lovely though!
